Hello! Thanks for stopping by.
My name is Ramona John. My
husband is Dick, and we live in North
Texas.
My first career was in law. Of
course, I had a number of jobs before that,
including everything from sitting in a tub of
bubble bath, wearing a bikini to advertise water
softener to modeling for art classes in the same
bikini to field director for the Campfire Girls.
But I digress...
I kept starting and stopping law
school as Dick’s work sent us hopping around the
country. When we hit Houston in 1968, I began
once more. This time, I was determined to stay
until I clutched a law degree in my hand. We
remained for thirty-three years. (It didn’t take
me that long to finish law school, thank
heaven.) I opened my practice in 1971, in an
office the size of a walk-in closet... Later, I
became judge of a juvenile court. I finished my
legal career as IV-D Director of Texas, (head of
child support enforcement for the state).
Dick was a TV news anchor man and
news director at stations across the country,
from Oklahoma City to Tampa,
New York, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles and Houston.
He picked up a number of awards along the way,
including an Emmy for his work on the
Huntley-Brinkley Report. (He won’t like my
mentioning that, but I’m proud of him.) Later,
he became a media consultant, working
independently and with others, such as Dan
Ammerman at The Ammerman Experience. His work
took him across the country and to South
America, Saudi Arabia and Europe.
Now retired, he has become a computer guru. I’m
convinced that only our two sons know more about
those incomprehensible machines. I consider them
to be instruments of the devil. (Computers, not
the boys.)
You can visit Dick’s web page at
http://dickjohn.com. I must be clear about
one thing, though. We disagree on almost any
issue you can name, so his opinions are strictly
his own. (I love him, anyway. The poor thing is
just misguided.)
My passion for
writing has resulted in everything from poetry
to articles to four books. I hope you'll look at
some of my work. On the menu to the left, you'll
find my complete books, many articles, poems and
essays.
I hope you enjoy my web site and
will visit again. You can e-mail me at
